1:00pm May 6th a massive tornado hit Tsukuba city in Ibaraki Prefecture, It smashed windows and blew the roofs off of around 200 houses, injuring 40 and killing 1 (14 year old Keisuke Suzuki, who died after being taken to hospital.)
While maybe not a big deal in America Tornado’s are extraordinarily rare in Japan, even more so for twisters that can do any damage.
The tornado came with a large lightning storm that knocked out power for some 20,000 homes in Saitama, Ibaraki and Tochigi along with hitting 3 people killing 1 of them (Yoshihito Yaguramaki, a 64-year-old farmer found dead in his field)
